WordPress 3.0 Enhanced

Clean Slate is fully enhanced using the latest technology that arrived with the latest versions of WordPress.

Custom Menus

You have full control over your navigation menus using the awesome new “Menus” feature in WordPress 3.0.  In Clean Slate, this feature is activated automatically.  Simply head over to Appearence > Menus and start creating your custom navigation however you please.  It’s as simple as drag and drop!

Plus, since Clean Slate is packed with widget areas, you can also add additional custom navigation menus to any widget area, making your site navigation even more seamless.

Custom Post Types

New in Clean Slate 2.0 are added custom post types to make content management even easier than ever.  We’ve added two new custom post types built right into the theme:

  • Features – These are used for the home page featured slider.  You can choose to use this content type as a third alternative to displaying posts or pages in the slider.  Basically, features allow you to display any content you want—images, video, text— and link to to wherever you want.
  • Callouts – Callouts are (optionally) used in the middle part of the home page as short promotional blurbs, “calling out” to… anything you want!  You still have the option to use widgets instead, but callouts give you added flexibility and better organization of content.

Automatic Image Resizing

This feature goes back to WordPress 2.9, but it’s so awesome so we felt it’s worth mentioning :)

When you upload an image to your website, Clean Slate utilizes the built-in WordPress image resizing features to automatically create, resize, and crop (if necessary), each image sized used in this theme.

For example, let’s say you have a post, which is featured in the slider, shown elsewhere using the portfolio page template, and also displays in the “More Posts” bucket near the footer.  You want to use the same image for all of these areas, but don’t want to create 3 separate copies and re-upload each one.  Simple upload your single (large) image, set it as the “Featured Image” for that post, and Clean Slate takes care of the rest— resizing and distributing your image to all of the appropriate areas throughout your site.  Easy!
